AFV Educate

AFV Educate, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has set its mission to develop and present training on new technology vehicles to those who need it.

AFV Educate was founded by Chris Womock and Micheal Smyth to support professionals working with or responding to incidents involving alternative fuel vehicles. Chris and Mike are excited to build this member-centric program based on their extensive experience in alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles.

For eighteen years, Chris Womock, Captain, Indianapolis Fire Department, has been teaching firefighters and other responders about alternative fuel vehicles. He has completed a degree in Fire Science and is currently working on his bachelor's in Fire Administration. He holds multiple certifications, including those covering hazardous materials, instructor, fire officer, strategy, and tactics.

Micheal Smyth has been developing and presenting training on alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles for over twenty years. He is the author of multiple award-winning curriculum programs, including "Firefighter First Responder Alternative Fuel Vehicle Training"  for West Virginia University. He previously held the role of Director for WVU's National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) and as Director of Training for Automotive Video Innovations.

James Augustine, Director of International Markets at AFV Educate,  has extensive experience in consulting on electric mobility and EV infrastructure solutions. James also has experience in the international fuels and training arena, and is an Industry-recognized authority on clean energy technologies and alternative fuels.

Together, they and their staff have set a goal of developing and presenting the best, most current, and accurate alternative fuel vehicle training to the automotive repair and first responder communities.
